Falcons win NCSSAA Championships in three
Walking into the NCSSAA championship final, the Franco-Cité senior girls volleyball team expected a fight. Although the Franco-Cité Falcons went undefeated (12-0) and only lost one set in their regular season, the girls did not underestimate their opponent, the Samuel-Genest Lasers. The lasers had been this team’s rival all season long, and the girls knew that in the end, this game was all that mattered. All throughout the first set, these teams were within one to two points of each other, right up until match point, 24(FC)-23(SG), when the Falcons strong defense came into play, taking the set 25-23. The Falcons also secured a win in the second set, due to their skilled serving and strong hitting, winning 25-19. At the start of the third set, it was evident that both teams thrived for that championship title. After a valiant fight, the Falcons prevailed with a 25-23 victory over the lasers, and secured their second straight trip to OFSAA and their third consecutive ‘city champs’ title. Congratulations girls, you’ve earned it!!! Big thanks go out to the coaching team, Vicky Boisseau, Denis Nadeau, Martin Nadeau. Thanks for a great season. Good luck in Dryden.
